For the last 2 years, the family of Alexander and Galina Gerega invested 150 mln in agricultural business, General Director of Epicentr K LLC Petr Myhailyshyn said during interview with ET.
“150 mln dollars for the last 2 years are the significant investments. For just two years, we also increased the agricultural land banking to 110 ths hectares of land”, Mykhailyshyn said.
According to him, in 2016, they acquired 80% of the stake of the company “Vinnitsa Agro-Industrial Group”, which, except for the land, has four elevators with the total capacity of 230 ths tons of the simultaneous grain storage.
“It was the first large acquisition of agricultural assets, and then we moved further in such way. After the acquisition, we started technical modernization, improvement of crop growing technology etc”, the general director said.
“Then, the agricultural assets of Glencore and Obolon Agro companies were purchased. Currently, we formed three production clusters: “Western”, “Vinnitsa” and “Central” with land banking in Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Vinnitsa, Kyiv and Cherkassy regions”, Myhailyshyn added.
The family of Gerega started building its agricultural empire back in 2015. For the last three years, they managed to concentrate over 100 ths hectares in five regions of Ukraine.
Vinnitsa Agro-Industrial Group of Vladimir Bartsios was the first significant asset. Then, the businesspersons purchased 10 agricultural enterprises from the international trader Glencore, getting ahead of Kernel’s CEO Andrei Verevsky in making this deal.
Then, they purchased Obolon-Agro from “beer king” Alexander Slobodian. Currently, Epicentr searches for new directions for investments.
